Wedding Day - Open Mingle

Who: WangJi, WuXian, and anyone who wants to come
Where: Dressing Car and Gym Car

What: WuXian and WangJi get married again. Wedding and Reception
Warnings: Aside from gratuitous pdas from the newlyweds? Probably nothing. Let me know if something needs to be added

The day had quickly arrived after the date had been picked out. The dressing car was opened by the train, letting everyone who wished to attend go to pick out something formal to wear for the event, and very early in the morning, the gym had been decorated appropriately for the Chinese wedding ceremony, mostly in the color red with some gold mixed in. Near the door of the carriage was a banner with Chinese characters written on it, including the double happiness symbol.

For the ceremony itself, a low table was set out with a few items. The grooms entered, both WangJi and WuXian wearing red robes had been made by the resident spider, embroidered with gold designs of forest animals. WangJi's normally white forehead ribbon had even been replaced with a red and WuXian had a red veil. With their attendants there to assist, the wedding ceremony began.

As the pair approached the table, WuXian on one side and WangJi on the other, they alternated bowing to each other three times before kneeling. With the help of their attendants, they each drank a cup of tea, which they used their long sleeves as though hiding that they were doing so behind them. Once they had put the cups down, WangJi reached up, pushing the veil back so that he could see WuXian’s face before removing the forehead ribbon he’d been wearing. Taking WuXian’s hand, he used to make kind of a loose knot between their two wrists, a Gusu Lan symbol that WuXian was his fated partner. Then as they carefully stood, WangJi leaned in to kiss WuXian before they both bowed to their attendants, thanks for assisting them and being there for them.

Soon after the room was ready for the reception, the feast prepared for the couple and for their guests, which had been prepared by helpful volunteered, attempting to make as many traditional dishes as they could with the offerings that the train had.

As the wedding couple, they were rather happily seated together of course. WangJi had since replaced the forehead ribbon on his head, but the question would be how long it stayed there.

"Yeah, yeah, modern sensibilities and so on." Senku complained as he moved to get his pants off.

"Pretty sure the apocalypse killed all of our modesty." He snorted lightly. It just wasn't important.

Notably, he still knew how to get into formal clothes, although this was much better than wearing a suit, which was often what Yuzuriha made when they wanted to do something with some kind of formality.

"Mmm, you're probably right ... and yet, since modesty is standard, for most people here ... I think I can be a little bit possessive of what's seen as an exclusive view."

Gen winked, knowing he had nothing to be worried about. He wasn't concerned that Senku's feelings for him would change, not at this point. Or perhaps most relevant here, he didn't think that Senku would suddenly gain an interest in others that way.

He snickered lightly and rolled his eyes. "Uh huh."

It was just about long enough to hide the fact he didn't have shoes on, but he didn't think anyone was going to look anyway. He pulled the haori on and then went over to prod at Gen.

"You have to get changed too, if you want a lookout fine."

"Oh, trust me, I will," Gen agreed with plenty of cheer. "We've found so many lovely things, I just have to before the train disappears all of this."

And he nodded to the idea of a lookout. "I think there's enough going on, my dear, that we don't want to avoid someone becoming silly over me 'flashing' them on accident."

"Fine fine, I am watching the entrance and not you." Senku said, turning pointedly to play lookout.

"I have an idea how to do your hair."

Gen giggled, and teased, "You have plenty of chances to see me changing later."

Then, he hummed, curious and a little surprised. "Do you? I'll certainly let you help me, my dearest. Since you'll let me help you with your rope."

"Well your hair's not as easy to incorporate it as mine is, but I'm thinking if I braid your fringe I can tie it off with a piece of rope." Senku grinned a bit.

"I'll put the clips in the black side."

"Oh!" Gen blinked, and smiled, pausing in the middle of him putting on the kimono to beam at Senku. "That sounds like a lovely idea, Senku-chan. I'd like that."

Maybe he was blushing just a little, too. It's one thing to say that Senku was part of the Ishigami Village - he was their chief! Of course he was! But sometimes, even after a couple of years, Gen still felt a bit like an outsider. So that was ... very nice.

"Good, 'cause I was probably going to do it anyway." Senku smirked over his shoulder and then looked back dutifully.

"Besides, doesn't hurt to have a little something from home."

"Mmmm, that's true, though I do have you, my dearest, and that's the one thing I'd choose if I could take anything from home with me!" Gen said in a cheery voice.

Like he didn't just say something completely sappy.

He went through the last steps belting himself into all the layers he'd placed on. Gen was tempted to forgo shoes as well ...

Senku rolled his eyes a little bit at that. "Don't get all sappy on me, we're going to a wedding, that's already maximum sap."

He turned to look over his shoulder and then turned around since Gen was dressed enough he didn't need to keep watch.

Gen raised his eyebrows. "And what is a wedding but a chance to be sappy, Senku-chan? If I didn't indulge in a little sap, I wouldn't fit in."

He decided to forget the shoes. Why bother? The kimono covered his feet, unless he moved too quickly. "Now, I think we should fix your hair."

"I suppose that's true." He'd concede, although on which point he didn't clarify.

He summoned some silk rope from his arms band and produced his knife before cutting it long enough for Gen to have enough rope to do the knot properly. It wasn't the same as the village rope, but he didn't mind. He held it out to him.

Humming a little, he took the rope, feeling its texture, thinking of how to best tie it once it was in Senku's hair. Then, considered their relative heights.

"If you could crouch a little - actually," Gen spotted a stool by the vanity in the dressing cart, "why don't you sit down - I'll get this in there more easily that way, less tugging."

"Yeah, alright." Senku agreed and went to sit down on the stool as requested.

"I'm not that worried about what you're doing to my hair."

"Now, you say that as if there is a small thread of worry to speak of at all!" Gen laughed, as he came up behind him. Deftly, but gently, he began to pull Senku's hair back and gather it up. It gave him a chance to card his fingers through Senku's thick white hair as he did so. "You've noticed I don't have any ribbons or flowers."

That Senku could see, anyway.

"Not at all, Mentalist." Senku said, tilting his head back a bit so Gen could do as he pleased. He didn't mind so much, when it was Gen.

"I didn't see any, but I'm sure you do." He snorted. He wasn't born yesterday.

Gen smiled warmly as he carefully brought all the strands away from Senku's face, and then let the bangs fall as normal. He thought they framed his face nicely. "You know me too well, Senku-chan!"

The high ponytail he was pulling Senku's hair in wasn't too different than Kohaku's, but he was looping the rope a couple of times, just to make sure it'd hold back Senku's thick hair. "My. I should get you some conditioner, put in an order before we make our next stop. That'd help tame your hair just a little bit, I'd think ..."

"If I put conditioner in my hair," Senku began, humming lightly at the feeling of Gen's fingers through his hair "it will totally not stay up and then I'll have to fuss with it. It's just giving me more work to do."

He currently did nothing to his hair, anything more than that was work.

"But I guess if it's something you wanted to mess with, I could condition my hair next time you want to play with it." Gen playing with his hair involved nothing on his part except sitting still.

"See, that's the great thing about knowing me!" Gen cheerfully told him. "I'll do all the fussing with your hair for you. I don't see how you lose out in this situation."

Finalizing the knot, Gen put the clips he'd picked out for him in next, then beamed. "There you are, my darling. What do you think?"

He glanced at his reflection, he hadn't really been considering it at all actually. Mirrors weren't something they kept on hand, and those that wanted them had them. Senku didn't even own one for himself.

"Hm." It looked nice. "I think it's your turn."

He flushed lightly and moved to switch, but he did squeeze Gen's wrist slightly.

“Why, thank you.” Gen saw the blush on Senku’s face and appreciated the warm squeeze of his wrist. That was enough to tell him that his boyfriend appreciated it, even if he couldn’t put it into words.

Sitting down, Gen positioned his head poised from his neck and still, a practiced position. Even as he grinned. “My apologies for having a little less to work with.”

"Pfft, like I care about that." Senku began first carding his fingers through Gen's hair lightly, fluffing it up a little bit before using the clips on the black side.

"I just have to get more creative that's all." He carefully gathered the white now, dividing it into thirds while he begain plaiting it.

"As much as I'd like to pretend I can whip this rope on you that easy, I'm gonna need you to hold it right here." Senku reached for Gen's hand so he could guide it.

"I do so enjoy your creativity," Gen said honestly as his tone sounded as if he was just teasing. Senku knew what he meant, how he felt. He gave Senku his hand, reaching up so he could place it where it was needed. "There you are."

He hummed a little. "Eventually I'll need to get it cut, if I want it to stay in my signature style. It's part of my brand, by now!"

He looped the rope twice as well, just stylistically and tied it off properly, before trimming the ends so it was much better in his opinion.

"I'm not going to tell you what to do with your hair." He did however smile fondly at him.

"I'm done."
