Wedding Day - Open Mingle

What: WuXian and WangJi get married again. Wedding and Reception
Warnings: Aside from gratuitous pdas from the newlyweds? Probably nothing. Let me know if something needs to be added

The day had quickly arrived after the date had been picked out. The dressing car was opened by the train, letting everyone who wished to attend go to pick out something formal to wear for the event, and very early in the morning, the gym had been decorated appropriately for the Chinese wedding ceremony, mostly in the color red with some gold mixed in. Near the door of the carriage was a banner with Chinese characters written on it, including the double happiness symbol.

For the ceremony itself, a low table was set out with a few items. The grooms entered, both WangJi and WuXian wearing red robes had been made by the resident spider, embroidered with gold designs of forest animals. WangJi's normally white forehead ribbon had even been replaced with a red and WuXian had a red veil. With their attendants there to assist, the wedding ceremony began.

As the pair approached the table, WuXian on one side and WangJi on the other, they alternated bowing to each other three times before kneeling. With the help of their attendants, they each drank a cup of tea, which they used their long sleeves as though hiding that they were doing so behind them. Once they had put the cups down, WangJi reached up, pushing the veil back so that he could see WuXian’s face before removing the forehead ribbon he’d been wearing. Taking WuXian’s hand, he used to make kind of a loose knot between their two wrists, a Gusu Lan symbol that WuXian was his fated partner. Then as they carefully stood, WangJi leaned in to kiss WuXian before they both bowed to their attendants, thanks for assisting them and being there for them.

Soon after the room was ready for the reception, the feast prepared for the couple and for their guests, which had been prepared by helpful volunteered, attempting to make as many traditional dishes as they could with the offerings that the train had.

As the wedding couple, they were rather happily seated together of course. WangJi had since replaced the forehead ribbon on his head, but the question would be how long it stayed there.

Wedding Couple at the reception!

The couple is, of course, sitting together and mingling with the guests, never more than a few paces apart and quite probably holding hands. Come and talk to them and give your well-wishes if you would like to!

Lan Xichen

The groom's brother is not in red - in fact, he's not in orange, either, for once, having acquired actual white and blue robes for the occasion. He's pale and thin-cheeked - visible enough when this close to the younger brother who looks so much like him - but he is present, taking his place at the ceremony.

To cover his own occasional distraction, he steps a little to the side of the car once the reception begins, takes out his flute, and provides the gentle sound of some of the (unpowered) melodies from the Cloud Recesses. A blessing that runs deeper than the words he might have managed earlier. From his heart.

A wedding was a nice change of pace, really, Senku hadn't been there the last time they got married. He was dressed up in a proper kimono and haori, and his hair was tied back in a high ponytail with a medium thick piece of rope.

Regardless of his lack of social grace, he is aware of customs, at least surrounding Japanese weddings and this one is fairly formal seeming, so he will bow appropriately. "Congratulations and warm wishes to both of you on your wedding day."

[Getting ready for a party - locked to Gen]

They might not know the grooms incredibly well, or at least, Senku didn't but an excuse for a gathering and some kind of romantic thing was right up his boyfriend's alley.

Besides, what else were they going to do trapped on a train traversing a void?

He met Gen in the dressing car. "We'd better find something to wear."

[It's not a party if there's not a ton of food, right? - open]

Senku could be found easily enough, dressed in a proper kimono and haori, his hair pulled up into a proper ponytail, tied with a medium sized rope, which while it didn't match had its own significance to him.

He helped himself to a plate of food and settled in the corner. He's in a decent mood too, after the faire although he's probably halfway through a bite when someone gets too close.

"Hey, how's it going." He said, covering his mouth a bit. That was semi-polite, right?

He was going to be social until he reached the point he couldn't anymore, he's at least going to try and enjoy the party for what it is.

Gen really didn't know them very well either, but it was still a party on a train. Why would he turn that down? And as Senku was thinking, they didn't exactly have a full social calendar trapped in the train here, did they?

He smiled at Senku and then looked around. "At least some of these options are pretty familiar, aren't they, my dear? Though I don't see any beige for you."

Just gently teasing.

"Ha." Senku smirked at him. "I imagine I will live with something else." He started to browse the options.

"I could wear a suit." He sighed, it wouldn't be terribly comfortable though, would it?

"No, I wouldn't say you should try a suit, darling ... trust me, when faced with something off-the-rack verses something tailored? An ill-fitting suit pinches," Gen told him, easily misdirecting from the real issue there.

He found some kimonos, yukatas, haori, and more traditional garb he was used to seeing from modern-day Japan. For a festival or wedding, very clearly. "Take a look here. Some of these - I could fit so much in these sleeves! It's a shame we can't keep any of them. But you'd look handsome in one of these ..."

"That is true, you could." Senku agreed, looking at the clothing, brushing them with his fingertips.

"What do you think, black or this blue-green colour?" He tugged on them lightly to show Gen.

"It's a wedding, I guess we have to get dressed up, don't we?"

"The blue-green, definitely," Gen told him, standing close and reaching out to feel the fabric. "Mm. That's soft. A little plain for my tastes, but you're going to look amazing, my dear."

He smiled at him, amused. "Yes. Well, I suppose we don't have to do anything. I'm sure there'll be people who simply show up to take some cake an dance." Essentially, that's what he'd be doing. "But they'll appreciate it more if we take it seriously, of course."

"No I'm pretty sure there are customs and things to weddings. I've been to one before." Senku answered, selecting the outfit easily enough.

"We already know I like plain anyway."

When Senku came over them and bowed, WangJi returned the bow, clasping his hands together. "Thank you. It is an honor to get to share it with those here."

Wei Wuxian bowed as well, letting go of Wangji long enough to circle his arms for a proper bow back. "Thank you. We appreciate your coming."

Wei Wuxian smiled at his brother-in-law, appreciating the blessing, and the presence of the man who had been through so much in such a short time.

After having made sure there were plenty of gold flowers for the ceremony and reception, Glorfindel made sure to wear his finest robe for the ceremony.

"Congratulations, both of you," he said with a smile, when it was his turn to greet them. "I hope you have many long years together."

"I apologize for the lack of gift, considering we don't have currency, but I can offer you a favour or an item of your choosing, if there's something you'd like." Senku offered with a small smile.

“There are,” Gen agreed, “but we could always pretend we don’t. But this is more fun. Dressing up, wearing something nice ...”

He hummed and found a belt he thought would go with Senku’s outfit. “Here, this would fit well, I think? And all of these are pretty long, we can probably hide the fact we aren’t wearing shoes, don’t you think?”

"That's true, unless we should look for some or something." Senku hummed. "Although I'd rather avoid that if I can."

He was as picky about that as probably Gen was. "What do you want to wear?"

"First rule of stagecraft, my darling - if it isn't visible to the audience, it might as well not exist," Gen told him cheerfully. "We can skip the shoes."

He hummed as he looked through the selections. "Something pretty, I think, most everything we have is so utilitarian. And it's a special occasion! I doubt I'll find any sleeves with nightshade designs, sadly."

"That might be a bit specific without a custom order." Senku agreed.

He was browsing a bit, looking for things in bright colours for Gen, because Gen preferred that sort of thing. "What colour do you want?"

"Sadly so," Gen lamented in a dramatic tone.

Gen tilted his head, "Well, I wouldn't want to clash with you, my dearest, since we're going together. I might ignore shoes, but I won't fail to color-coordinate with my date. So, probably something blue, I'd think ..."

Though he kept getting distracted by more vibrant pieces. Some of these had sequins! Pretty tasteless, but they were still shiny and distracting. But Gen wouldn't wear sequins to a wedding, thank you.

"A brighter blue then?" Senku didn't really know much about fashion, and just because he enjoyed muted colours that didn't mean very much.

"Something with long sleeves for you, obviously."

"Maybe! That would be pretty. With flowers, I'm hoping, and definitely long sleeves - you never know if they need entertainment at the wedding ... oh, look at these, Senku-chan!"

Gen found a whole line of pretty kimonos with flowers, and he was just going to take a moment to look at all of the patterns. "These are gorgeous."

"Those would suit you." Senku observed with a hum. He didn't particularly mind that Gen was looking at something more flowery, it was more suited to his personality, and his profession.

"Is there a blue one that would match what I'm wearing?"

Honestly, Gen didn't think that Senku would really have any opinion on it at all. He was a very, very practical person - so Gen didn't mind if Senku would be more thinking about the utility of clothing than fashion. Here, the only utility was meeting the social norm of the wedding attire usually seen.

Gen found a robe with dark blue sleeves, but light blue flowers all over, and blue and white ruffly under-robes, and he pulled it out to hold up to him. "Oh, Senku-chan. I think this would match well enough? I could've even worn this on stage, once upon a time, if we were doing anything with a New Year's theme, don't you think?"

He's mostly just thinking aloud. "Oooh, now I'm kind of sad this will all disappear after the wedding."

"I have no idea about your stage clothes, honestly." Senku admitted. "It's nice." That was about all he knew about fashion right there.

"I think if you wanted something like that to keep, you'd have to ask the spider, remember? I don't know what she'd want for something like that...well we were thinking about making cookies, weren't we?"
