Day 19 - Time for a Wedding

Who: Lan WangJi, Wei WuXian and anyone else who wants to attend!
Where: Garden carriage and then gym car
When: Day 19 of Egret
What: Wedding! Wedding reception and lots of food.
Warnings: Pretty much up in the air. But there will likely a lot of PDA's from the wedding couple during the reception... because that's how they roll

Finally, it was Day 19, the day that WangJi and WuXian had chosen for their wedding.

Ceremony
Inside the garden, everything had been decorated in red and gold, traditional colors for a wedding in China. There were flowers and a low table set up.

As the ceremony begins, Lan WangJi and Wei WuXian enter with Lan Sizhui and Wen Qing as their attendants. The wedding clothes for WangJi and WuXian are also red, with designs of forest animals in the designs sewn in, including frogs and rabbits. All of this was courtesy of their friendly neighborhood spider. WuXian was also wearing a red veil over his hair and face. Even WangJi’s ever-present forehead ribbon was red today instead of white.

As the pair approached the table, WuXian on one side and WangJi on the other, they alternated bowing to each other three times before kneeling. With the help of their attendants, they each drank a cup of tea, which they used their long sleeves as though hiding that they were doing so behind them. Once they had put the cups down, WangJi reached up, pushing the veil back so that he could see WuXian’s face before removing the forehead ribbon he’d been wearing. Taking WuXian’s hand, he used to make kind of a loose knot between their two wrists, a Gusu Lan symbol that WuXian was his fated partner. Then as they carefully stood, WangJi leaned in to kiss WuXian before they both bowed to their attendants, thanks for assisting them and being there for them.

Reception
Following the wedding ceremony itself, the party then moved to the gym car, where the reception and feast were being held. Like the decorations for the wedding, it was also a lot of red and gold. To those who didn’t know beforehand, it would likely be obvious that red and gold here very important.

Lots of food cooked by wonderful volunteers from the train. Of course, there had to be dessert, which was the cake baked by the couple’s son, Lan Sizhui.

As the wedding couple, they were rather happily seated together of course. WangJi had since replaced the forehead ribbon on his head, but there was a high likelihood that sometime during the party WuXian was going to end up wearing it around his wrist.

Nita misses out on the cake handfeeding - which would have disappointed her, if she'd known it was coming.

But seeing the couple is indeed lovely. And she can't help just a little teasing.

"How are you boys doing today?" she asks, grinning broadly with a small plate of sweets in one hand. "You certainly look like you belong here together."

The ceremony was beautiful and he didn't want to go over the things Inigo was saying during it. Maybe that was the reason for the grin on the other's face too.

He didn't appreciate the cake shenanigans and just turned his head away. However, he stashed some away for later because private was another thing entirely.

Yuki's not sure what to do when he hears someone approaching but social manners are something he's familiar with. So there's a slight smile with a reply.

"Doing well thank you for asking. How are you?"

But when Nita says it looks like they belong there together, his brain freezes up.

Nita! That's exactly one of the people who can manage to snap Inigo out of it and get off cloud nine for a moment. Just the sound of her voice is enough to make his head turn and look at her - even with the dumb grin still plastered all across it. That isn't leaving, especially not in the company of a dear friend and his new boyfriend.

(Apparently the teasing is totally going over his head for the moment. He's too far gone into la la love land. Does he even notice Yuki freezing up? Who knows.)

"Nita! I'm having the time of my life!" At her remark, he's totally hooking his arm with Yuki's. Proudly. Giddily. He knows Nita is smart enough to pick up on what's going on here without him having to spell it out.

"I'm doing alright, thanks," Nita returns to Yuki, trying not to grin too broadly at his expense.

"You definitely look it! It's the outfits," she continues, nodding.

"They match."

She'll give Yuki a minute to unstick his brain, and Inigo one to perhaps realize Yuki's brain has stuck...

When Inigo hooked his arm around his, suddenly he was brought back to the present and what in the world was with that expression on his face? Why was he smiling so much? Not that he would tell the warrior he couldn't smile, it was just..so weird still..somewhere.

The outfits..oh so that's why she thought as she did..well that made sense. That was Inigo's idea, Yuki himself had felt pulled (surprisingly) to wear an outfit that reminded him of the one he wore for the New Year Sohma zodiac banquet.

"I..see. Well thank you." There was a genuine smile at Nita even if Inigo was still stuck in la la land.

Inigo keeps smiling happily as she points out the matching outfits. Since yes, those are very much matching on purpose. Inigo isn't used to this style of clothes at all, but he just insisted on wearing something that matched what Yuki wanted.

At least he finally glances over at the other, seeming to realise Yuki's brain might be slightly more stuck than his own over this whole 'looking like a couple in front of others' deal. So while he doesn't let go of the boy's arm, he does try to ease up a little on the lovestruck smile. (It's hard!)

"Hey, don't worry! You don't have to be shy in front of Nita, she's seen me do at least a dozen embarrassing things already at this point." And she's never judged him. Well, not in any serious way, at least. Which is why he seems so comfortable right now. "She's one of my good friends here."

It's that which makes him glance back over at Nita with a smile. "Right?" He feels fairly confident about that fact, honestly, but he just doesn't want to seem like he's ignoring her.

"It's true," Nita confirms, snickering just a little.

"And Inigo's a friend of mine right back," she adds, looking right at Inigo as well.

He didn't have to look at her, but she could provide affirmation right back at him~

"So, Yuki, how's the train life treating you? We were picked up at the same time, right?"

Only to himself did Yuki admit it was odd to see someone dressing like he did. He figured Inigo would want to wear something more befitting of who and what he was, considering the clothing had been readily available. He'd even held up a few of the outfits and he got a head shake every time he did so, it was just odd.

But he feels the tug on his arm and the silvery head shook this time. "That sounds about right." He really didn't know what to say, but Inigo and embarrassment went hand in hand. It was just the way that the boy operated it seemed.

Turning to Nita he nodded. "Yes I believe we were. But as far as the train goes, it seems to be a little crowded."

He's definitely stupidly grinning as Nita repeats the part about them being friends back to him. It's nice to hear even if he already knew it.

Yuki's comment has him looking at the other boy, but he opts to shut up for a moment so Yuki and Nita can talk for a second without Inigo's constant rambling interrupting it. The fact that the train has a lot of people isn't a problem to him, but then again, he does guess Yuki is more introverted than Inigo himself is.

"I know what you mean," Nita says, agreeing with Yuki.

"Though it's definitely a recent development. I think Buttercup was saying there were only ten or so to start with...?"

Which was just another way in which this whole thing was unprecedented.

"Only ten?" Yuki asked with surprise. Ten? "And if that's true..she's been here that long..." Gray eyes went to Inigo for a moment. If that was the way it was she'd been trapped on this train with no way home for so very long. If she couldn't get off of it on her own, they might be here for that long or longer.

This couple that had just gotten married was banking on being here with each other for a long time. Is that something they should do? No because what if everyone went home and? The silver head shook and his gaze returned to Nita.

"It doesn't seem to be in a hurry to let any of us go."

Ten people does seem like a huge difference from how the train is now. They must have at least ten times that amount of people by now.. And although Inigo does look like he's trying to take that thought in for a moment, he either doesn't seem to share the worry going through Yuki's mind or doesn't show it, since he still acts pretty casual when he pipes up.

"That much is true. Although it feels like more people arrive than leave, it still feels completely random as to which people disappear." After all, Yuki was among the people who disappeared before, only to return.. He thinks about bringing up that fact, since he's sure Nita would find it interesting, but he also doesn't want to make some sort of zoo exhibit out of poor Yuki either. So he keeps it to himself. "Although I personally don't mind the idea of staying here longer too terribly."

"Five whole months. Or just five months, depending how you look at it."

Not that any of them can know what the real number is, time being distorted in the void and all.

"In a way, I'm used to it too. Nature of the Work and all."

Plus Nautilus, but she could go home from there.

"Never know who you'll meet or for how long..."

He heard Inigo mention the he wouldn't mind being here longer and he agreed on some level. But wasn't it like living in a bubble and escaping reality? Obviously he didn't have all of the answers as he didn't have all of the information.

Nita's words finally caught up to Yuki as he;d been lost in thought, going over the same circular logic he'd been doing since he arrived. So he looked at the wizard curiously. "I'm sorry..you said..nature of the work?"

Usually Inigo would be much more nervous about the last part of what Nita mentions. With his mile-long abandonment complex the idea of suddenly losing people is just about the worst thing that could happen to him. Thankfully he does have a way of seeing people again, even if it's not on the train, so the smile on his face remains very genuine with no real worries underneath.

Yuki's question does make him think though. He knows Nita has been in multiple places before, and that she can use magic.. though he's not too sure whether this part is something he's heard of already.

"I'm a wizard," Nita starts to explain, and she's grateful for all the practice acting in an astahfrith manner she's gotten in Nautilus. If she'd come here straight from Earth, before she'd gotten so much experience with cultures where it was safe to be 'out in the open' who knew what she would have made of this place!

"And I get to travel all sorts of places while on errantry - not just around Earth, but into the wider solar system, even to other galaxies and dimensions! It takes a lot of energy to teleport to those places, let alone walk. So while we meet lots of people, and can keep in touch with other wizards through the Manual, that's not a guarantee I'll see them face-to-face a lot, or even at all after we first meet."

Gray eyes look at Nita in some disbelief. Wizards..well this place was filled with odd people..at least odd in his estimation. But then he did remind himself he was being overly judgmental and he was in absolutely no position since Inigo had seen a side that he never should've in a perfect world. Not that one of those existed.

The amount of information he was getting was staggering and he shook his head. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to pry..but..how..does one even become a wizard?" Is this a gift like being 'cursed' was or did one study or go to a certain place to learn?

It sure helps that Inigo already knew some things about Nita. And.. well, let's face it, his own world is ridiculous enough compared to some of the more normal ones out there that nothing she says really strikes him as anything surprising. He just thinks it's cool! Nita the traveling wizard!

"I assume it's by learning magic, right?"

Granted, Inigo is thinking in terms of his own world. He could have been a mage himself if he'd ever bothered to open a book about magic, after all.

"Yes and no," Nita says, answering Inigo's question first.

"All wizards in the neck of the multiverse I'm from are offered their wizardry by the Powers That Be - they stumble on the Oath in books, or have it appear in their own head, and if they choose to take it they end up on Ordeal, solving some problem of the universe's. You usually get some time to get used to the Speech and the power that comes with it, though, and there's no such thing as knowing too much when it comes to facing down the Lone Power," she adds, though that's more of an opinion than a fact and she knows it.

"So you stumble on a book?" Yuki asked politely. An ordeal sounded like one and what was this lone power? "And you get a speech?" This wizarding stuff was confusing. He didn't want to sound dumb because he wasn't. But wizards weren't a thing back home.

Unless being zodiac cursed counted.

Hey, if it helps, all of this sounds pretty new to Inigo too. And he's from a world with magic all over the place and people changing into dragons on the regular.

"I'm not sure how I'd feel if I suddenly found something like that in a book.." (You'd actually have to open a book once in a while to begin with, Inigo.) But while he can sense and understands Yuki's confusion, there's something else about what Nita says that bothers him instead - which, of course, involves the safety of a friend. "What's that Lone Power you have to face down all about though?"

"Or something like that, yeah. /And the Speech is the language the Powers used to make the worlds,/" Nita continued, switching into the Speech itself for demonstrative purposes.

/It seemed like a prank to me at first, too. I didn't read the Oath aloud straight off; I read up on the warnings and prerequisites first./

Inigo's question came next. /The Lone Power, inventor of Entropy and perpetrator of a hell of a lot of suffering among the worlds./

The sort of person you'd expect to rule the void, really.

Yuki wasn't terribly sure what to make of the Speech. And was..Nita speaking with some sort of advice from somewhere? This reminded him somewhat of Miss Hanajima. Those two would probably get along fantastically.

Maybe too much.

So he backed up a step, not sure why this was a thing that was happening. And then when it was all over, he blinked. The sort of person to rule a void?

"You have to face that sort of thing down?"

Listen, the Speech thing? It's kind of weird - or more like special - but Inigo has seen enough strange things. It's not enough to make him back up a step like Yuki, though he's making sure to keep an eye on his boyfriend in case he needs some comfort. (Maybe Inigo is a little overly considerate of his feelings, but still..)

But the thought of Nita dealing with something like that takes up more of his attention. Because oh boy, he doesn't like the sound of that.

"By yourself?"

Nita nodded. "It doesn't always get physical," she said, switching back to 'English' for Yuki's sake if nothing else.

"I wasn't alone on Ordeal, either; I had Kit, and Fred, and even though the world was at stake it wasn't as if I didn't have help, but... it was a lot. And the world never stays saved, though the Lone Power doesn't always use the same tactic twice."

Putting out the sun had only occurred the once in her neighborhood, damnit! And if she had anything to say about it, things would stay that way.
