Spark often claimed that he slept through missions to explain why he was absent from them, so he was free to have Gar or Privateer Pirate show up. But this time he actually had slept. He'd been sleeping a lot since that world with the fake lives, that one that felt so much like a storm from Nautilus.

But he was....

Lonely. That was it. He was lonely.

He was more settled now than he had been after the fish world, but he was still barely eating and avoiding people. Or had been. He just...

He wished Adrien would show up here. Or The Doctor would know who he was. Rose. Nino. Connie. Nita. Kirika. Dominic. Greg. Donovan. Luna. He'd even take Jacob or Gabriel at this point, though each had their issues. Of course if he was bothering with wishing... Quilt.

He shook himself and walked through the train, looking for someone who needed a cat to snuggle with, or tell their problems to. Or a friendly face from Nautilus, since none from his real home or Paris were here...

That fish dish did sound yummy and had him licking his chops, but then...

Excuse him while his jaw hangs open. Link? Playing along with puns? The guy who hated Privateer Pirate and Chat for it? That kid?

Depression or not, no way any Deegan could let that go and just ignore it. Well, maybe Jacob, but he didn't count. "No one here is deep enough to whale on you over it. They won't beluga the point."

"I don't think it's the right sea-son to add an ocean to our train." Yes, Spark. Outside of battle, Link didn't mind at all.

This was... this was just too amazing. Really. "Lake anyone would care! Let's try it and you'll sea for shore!"

"Maybe you could ask around and let minnow if people are okay with it?"

"I'm okay with it and I'm people!" he assured him. "We don't need to fish for other answers to tip the scales or change our tune-a."

"You're one person, I need mere people. It'd really kelp me figure out if it's a good idea."

"But I've met mer people! They'd gil for an ocean here!"

Link laughed. “Alright, let’s start with lunch and we’ll work from there.”

"Food sounds like a wonderful lunching off point!"

"You butter believe it."

"I thought the Deegans were the only family bread for this sort of wordplay. I figured you'd be toast by now."

"Heh. People don't usually talk to me outside of wanting stuff. Other than my family, I mean. But, I'm a fungi."

"Everybody wants stuff," he said with a feline shrug. "The moss you can do is what they want, I guess, but it is more fun getting them to beleaf that what they want you to do is what you wanted to do anyway. That's how you weed out the annoying requests."

"Nah. No request is annoying. It's what I'm for anyway." He hesitated, knowing that Shadow wouldn't be thrilled to hear that mindset creeping up on him again.

"Probably acorny of me to think that way...." Link tried for another pun.

"If that's what you think, you gotta branch out kid. No one exists just to do for others, beleaf me. One of my humans, his wife used to think she was a mistake and shouldn't have existed at all. Another friend of mine was created to be all evil and creepy and stuff. But then she grew a backbone and he realized comedy was better, and they both got to the root of their problem and weeded all that messy emotional junk out. There, now you've had some kitty cat advice for tree, not to bark about my own skills, but you should be feline pretty good about now, fur sure."

Link smiled a little sadly, before Bending up a string of fat fish. "You're a good person, Spark. Hope you beleaf that."

He stared at the fish, waiting till they were close enough to pounce on, like he was expected to. He made himself seem like he was speaking absently, as if the fish took up all his focus. "Nah, my humans are good people. I'm a cat, shellfish through and through."

"Nah. You're here on this train. That's proof enough to tip the scales in your favor."

He pulled the string of fish up a little, intending to cook them so Spark could have a real treat.

Spark kept his eyes on them. "You're never going to train a cat to be a hero. I'm just a cat. A handsome wonderful talking cat, sure but I'm still small and squishy and utterly lacking in thumbs. I've even got two left feet!"

Link blinked. "You're a hero?" This was the conclusion Link jumped to, since he'd only implied Spark was a good person. And the cat's sudden protests pushed him towards suspicion.

He smiled a little. "Ah. That makes sense."

"I just said I wasn't! Do you have a hairball between your ears? Upright type people can be heroes, cats just aren't upstanding like that." HOW DID HE GET TO... JUST... WHAT?! NO! PANIC! STOP! NO!

"I never said you were, until you brought it up," Link explained. "There's a bit of a gap between good person and hero."

"...don't worry. I'm good at secrets."

Shadow. Sheik. There really was quite the list.

"Only because you hero types always think everyone can do what you can just because you do it yourselves! Some of us were never meant to be heroes and that has to be okay!"

"If you weren't you'd think it was funny," Link said quietly.

"Anyway, we have fish to cook?"

"After the furst few dozen times it gets old," he said, flatly. But he nodded. "Yes, fantastic fish fry!"
