A new Platform [Intro post~ August]
For those on the Train
"Good morning passengers, it is day sixteen of the month of Apple." The train announces as always as everyone wakes up the morning of the sixteenth. "Due to your success on Hub World #5739 your team points have been updated on the system. The on train shop has unlocked new stock."
For those going to investigate it might seem like the boredom of the last two weeks will be alleviated a little. More so after a few hours when there is a second announcement.
"Shortly arriving into a designated void platform. Exit from void imminent."
By now they should know to hold on as the train jerks and jolts. There is only fog outside the windows but the train soon comes to a stop. The doors hiss open.
As they exit into the fog they may notice Hibiki exiting from the luggage carriage door. She hasn’t been seen since the Hub World and they might be forgiven for believing she stayed behind. But here she is, backpack on her back as she walks through the station. She heads no call, reacts to no words and cannot be stopped as she walks to the ticket barrier and disappears through it.
It is impossible to follow. But you soon may be distracted because this platform is far from empty.
For new arrivals
At first all you can see if steam. Billowing around you as you come to your senses. You are standing, in clothes that are not your own, styles you might not even recognise. You are carrying a rucksack on your back. For a moment it seems to just be you, alone in the white haze but then the steam begins to fade and you realise you aren’t alone.
The platform is not very large, but it hold twelve figures all facing the tracks, all wearing similar clothing, even if one of them is a spider. The tracks stretch left and right into steam, or perhaps fog. Nothing can be seen to either side. There is a wall around the platform and the only entrance is a ticket barrier. It cannot be open, nor do there seem to be any staff.
What there is, is a train. Jet black and gleaming where it stands on the rails.Voidtrecker Express is emblazoned in the engine in gold. There is a hiss as the doors slide open.
Out step a selection of people, wearing clothes just like yours.
The Train
The doors hiss open. Those from the train may encourage those on the platform to board. It’s not like there is anywhere else to go and even if there was, you feel a pull. A need to board, a feeling that staying on the platform would not be a good thing.
Once on the train there is plenty to explore. A new sleeper carriage has appeared as has a medical bay. Neither were there before those already on the train had disembarked to meet their new travelling companions.
Each ICP shows the same message. The food stores have been topped up with new fresh food, though it seems that eggs are still predominately on the menu.
New passengers will find their tickets allow them into their cabins. They may need to negotiate for beds, especially if they want a top bunk!
Room is tight but there are storage cubbies at the head of each bed, beds fold up and the bottom bunks double as benches for the small table. There is storage under those benches and you will hopefully find a pillow for your bed if it has not been nabbed by a roommate, there are also spare blankets for if it gets cold.
Departure
A second horn sounds to encourage any stragglers and the doors slide shut. Those who boarded two weeks ago will know what is coming next.
The train sets off, the fog obscuring the view as it picks up speed.
"Welcome aboard, passengers of the Voidtrecker Express." A female-coded artificial sounding voice echoes throughout the train. "Please take the time to read the passenger information displayed on the Information and Communication points and familiarise yourself with the layout and emergency exits."
The train begins to tilt, leaving the ground and rising up into the fog filled sky.
"Entrance into Voidspace imminent. New passengers are advised to remain seated."
Hopefully someone warns you that you really want to heed that warning because a moment later there is a shudder, a jolt, a lurch to the left. A flash of light, colourful and blinding.
As quick as it happens it is done. The train seems to steady. The fog from the windows is gone now, replaced with a kaleidoscope of ever changing colours.

On the platform
The moment she came around, the spider froze, thoughts racing through her head faster than should really be possible for her poor, overworked synapses. Weird misty place, check. Humans, check, oldschool locomotive like she was about to go to a school for wizards, check. Ah, she knew where she was. It was so simple, so clear.
No way, as if! Of course she had no idea! She focused on the nearest human, and used Appraisal. Or tried to use Appraisal, because the usual information was nowhere to be seen. Huh, wasn't her health bar also missing? Appraisal, where are you? You can't leave without saying goodbye, she thought they had something special! Her most reliable skill, gone? There's got to be a word for this level of betrayal!
To anyone looking at the spider, she'd been standing frozen, and now started to shake a little.
Where was this? Definitely not the labyrinth, or even outside the labyrinth. Could this be another reincarnation? Two is definitely too many for one girl, right? Right? Isn't this too much? And hey, shouldn't she not be a spider any more? Keep her as a spider but take away all of her skills? Wasn't that asking for her to be killed?
The shaking increased.

But something just had to top all of it, and that was the fact that when Madoka turned to look to her side, there was just.. a spider.
A huge spider.
Madoka's reaction almost comically mirrored the spider's own. The moment she noticed her, Madoka also froze up, and then also started shaking, as if they were in sync.
Was this one of the witch's familiars? But how was she going to fight it without magical powers? Madoka had no idea, but in this moment all she could do was let out a high-pitched shriek.

Whoooah!
The moment he notices a huge spider shaking as if it was to lounge at its first victim Feanor takes a few steps back and exclaims.
"Begone spawn of Ungoliant! Perish in the darkness where you came from, demon!"
Feanor could really use a sword to back his words. Otherwise, these are just empty threats and they all end up dead very soon. He has already examined the contents of his rucksack and is painfully aware nothing inside can even remotely be counted as a weapon.

"Identify yourself." His eyes go from just seeing the spider itself to the weird thing that might be a spider version of a hoodie and a rucksack that smelled awful. "Let me make this clear, spider. A bow that swiftly gets slung over her back--of course she sees the spider, but spiders don't...usually...shake like that. And Sarai's got a very well honed sense of curiosity, as well as the power of the Echo on her side. So she tilts her head, rather birdlike, and gazes at the spider with perhaps a bit of trepidation, but no fear.
"It's a lot to take in, I know," she says, kindly. This wouldn't be the first panicking being she had seen, here. First spider, though! "I'm Sarai. Are you all right?"
She'll trust to the Echo to fill in the blanks she's drawing. Let it do some good, for once--she hopes!

Were he back on Eorzea, Dread would instantly be on guard; the monsters of that world were united in aggression towards the spoken races, after all. But this wasn't Eorzea, and so far the train had picked up many different people from many different worlds. And even among the beast tribes, there were kobolds, goblins, sahagin...
Dread approached slowly, hands at his sides. "Excuse me."

Now it feels like she's back at step one. What's even happening? She quickly glances around. Can't she find Kyuubey somewhere and ask him what's happening? Can't she make her wish anyway and just get on with it? And where is..
"Homura.." The name comes across her lips as the young girl stands there on the train platform, looking completely lost. What is this even? Is this part of Walpurgisnacht's barrier as well?
She feels so confused, but Madoka knows she can't just stand around aimlessly. There's no time for it, she's got a witch to defeat and a world to save! So no matter whether you're another fellow new arrival standing on the train platform or one of the people stepping out of the train, you may find a tiny teenage girl suddenly rushing up to you, looking oddly determined.
"Um..! Please, you've got to help me! Have you seen something that looks a little like a white cat around here? It's really urgent!"

There's some exasperation on Tony's face for a moment when he spots the little girl. He rolls his eyes to the thought in his head before approaching. He slows somewhat when he hears what the girl is saying. "I hate to break it to you but whoever you're looking for likely isn't here. As far as I've seen only one person has brought an animal with them from wherever they came from."

Manabu didn't know Hibiki well beyond a name and a face, yet seeing her pick up and vanish left him shaken and uneasy. A new place, a new platform...and impenetrable fog. No matter how far forward he wants to go, it seems no good; there is only the train and this platform, and all the new strangers within.
The chime of a young girl's voice suddenly calling out beside him gives Manabu a startle, and he whips around, wide-eyed and confused before he blinks and fixes on the girl. Seeing the concern on her face sobers him out of his own.
"A cat?" he echoes. "Did you show up here with it?"

On the Platform
A quick check, and he confirms that all of his concealed gadgets were missing, replaced by normal clothing. Even the Detective Boys badge was gone. His alarm was rapidly growing. Was this because of them? Had he been caught? But if that was so, how was he still alive?
For lack of any of other ideas, he turns to the rucksack. And there he sees his real name, printed simply onto the side. He stares blankly at it as he pales to an unhealthy extent, lost in the horror of the moment. Silently, he starts to panic.
This was... If someone knew, what could he even do now? Was this the end of everything?

He approaches and gives the kid a sympathetic smile. "It's okay, kid. Really. Just take a deep breath. Talk to me."

Edge did the most logical thing he could think of -- he vaulted forward, catching onto the side of the train and hauling himself up atop the nearest car before anyone could get too close. Up here, he'd have the advantage of at least a moment's warning should anyone think to come up and engage him.
"Hey! Let's hear an explanation!" he yelled down at the nearest steam-shrouded figure.

Feanor could swear
though that would probably be a bad ideathat just a moment ago he was still in the gloomy corridor looking at yet another tapestry. His fea destined to haunt this drab place until the literal end of the world because that's how it was foretold.He's not there anymore. Nor was he devoured by the Everlasting Darkness, which of the two would definitely be worse a choice, so he's not complaining... much. Just surprised. Granted that just a moment ago he'd kill for something to do, surprised is an improvement.
You can only stew in your anger and bitterness for so long before it gets boring. Truly, maddeningly boring. Yet even being lethally bored Feanor would not see the error of his ways. Simply because he believes there was no error. He might have calmed down, a miracle unto itself, but still believes himself justified in his actions. Not very happy, considering the consequences, but justified nonetheless. A change of strategy then. Good luck with that.
When the fog clears completely he sees there other people present on the platform but what really gets his attention is the black beast oozing steam on the platform. He quickly realizes it's no beast but a machine and his opinion of it instantly changes from probably dangerous to that's interesting.

Platform (CW: Angelville arc from S3]
This was not the swamps of Louisiana.
Plus she's now in head to toe purple and not in the nightgown she escaped in (she was going to change clothes while in the jeep). After a quick check she knows something is really wrong, nothing she's packed is here beyond a pack of cigarettes and her late father's lighter. But the name on the bag was Custer and not L'Angelle (under orders from grand mere in the months after her father's death).
So she slumps against a pillar, now what? And let's be real, she's not in the best of shape after a night in the coffin complete with claustrophobia flare....

Yeah, Renee tried to get past the ticket barrier to get out--but when even her enhanced strength didn't get her anywhere (she had taken her bracelet off and stowed it in her rucksack--handy, that!) she figured she was just as screwed as the rest of them. She squinted a little at the figures stepping off the train, and crossed her arms over her chest.
"So...you got any answers for us, or is this 'you've been chosen and you're coming with us'? 'Cause I've heard that before, and I'm not interested, I've gotta say."
Departure
Even if someone told her to sit down, Renee just grunted. "I'll be fine." About eighty percent of that was sheer pissed stubbornness; the other twenty was the fact that, like the Juggernaut, she could sort of plant herself in place using her powers--but when the train jolted and lurched, even she was staggered a little bit. Don't mind the fact that she probably left an impression of fingerprints in the metal bar on one of the seat backs...at least she didn't pull it out? (as if that could even happen??)
"Well. That's a trip, ain't it?" She didn't look thrilled about it, though.

"Yeah-I got slammed into a window the first time. It was.. uh. Embarrassing." He glances over at that pole she was holding onto because there seems to be some visible damage there. "Uh... anyways..." He tears his eyes off it. "I'm Peter. Peter Parker."

Ash | OTA
The hot springs had never been so steamy that Ash couldn't see through it, and the heat and humidity normally associated with such a place was entirely lacking. The weight of the rucksack settled on her shoulders as she shifted weight from one foot to the other, looking around her. Her ears stood straight up in alert as she caught sight of the new clothes she wore. She took a moment to feel it between her fingers - it felt different from the clothes from home. Strange. She heard murmuring as people came into sight and started to talk amongst themselves. Children. Elezen, or perhaps elves? Reassuring, at least. A... Spider? This wasn't the Source or the First anyway, and likely not a shard at all. The Exarch sure made a mess of this one.
Her ears still straight and turning towards sounds, it wasn't long before Ash shrugged off her rucksack and looked into it. Some part of her found relief as she saw her gun in there, and her ears relaxed a little as she pulled her aetheroconverter and fashioned the belt around her waist to its familiar spot on her right hip. She left the gun in the rucksack for now, as it seemed it may be imprudent to pull it out in front of children.
Needless to say, she seemed to be taking this in stride and something about that may be a little alarming. For the most part she seems to be people watching and admiring the train at this point
II. The Train
Ash would eventually meander upon the train and quietly move through it with her ears forward as she quietly moved through the train. She would eventually find her sleeper and would struggle to figure out how to open it (but only very briefly), then stare at the beds as she tries to discern which one is free. Clearly she was one to respect privacy and the last thing she would want to do is begin rifling through someone else's things on accident.
After stowing her items, she could be found going through the train and making a mental map of the layout, figuring out what is where, and otherwise looking over pieces of technology she may not be entirely familiar with.
Unfortunately, she did not take the departure warning particularly seriously and found herself stumbling as the train shuddered and lurched, throwing an arm out to catch herself. Hopefully she just stumbled into a wall and not a person. Oops.

"You want a seat? I think we might be okay to move around the cabin now, though. Even if the seatbelt sign--well, there is no freakin' seatbelt sign. What kind of jank venture is this train, anyhow?" Not that Renee had a problem keeping upright through the train's movement, though even she'd been staggered a bit.

Ple Two is hardly even aware of what a steam engine is, the technology is so dated in an era where much of the human species' population lives in little metal cylinders orbiting Earth. The marvel of Minovsky's nuclear fusion reactor has made electricity the norm in almost all facets of everyday life, especially for those living in space, and she can only barely parse what she's even looking at for a split second.
Anachronistic mass transit?
It's hard to determine why she's even in this place, at this time. One's imagination in those last fleeting moments of life shouldn't contain a machine you don't even recognize, and what a strange way for an afterlife to be - and if she's alive, then what in the world is even happening?
...why is there a giant freaking spider?
She's just going to hurry up and board and hope it doesn't decide to eat her, and deal with her confusion second. "How disturbing..."
II. New Home
She's expected to live here. There are tasks set out before her, lessons to learn, and she's meant to sleep in bunks near strangers - so be it. Whatever is happening here she just has to survive.
Whatever the reason for her being here, she needs to get home, someday, somehow.
To begin with though, she's concerned that the only object she recognizes from home is the psycommu headset, meant to control a Newtype-use mobile suit from afar. As unlikely as it seems, if she can actually reach the Qubeley Mk II from here...
She sits down in her new room, door open, cross-legged on a bed/bench; slips it on, and focuses on reaching out for anything. Anyone psychic whose attention she hasn't pinged yet will almost certainly feel the amplified brain waves; everyone else will just see a very focused little girl with some weird headgear.

Currently he seemed preoccupied threatening a spider monster. She was sure he could handle it and he would only get scrunch faced mad if she went anywhere close.
Instead she boarded the train again and wandered through the sleeper carriages, studying the names on the doors. Twenty One. That's how many there were now. She saw the girl sat on the bench with weird things on her head, she tilted her own head and stood and watched. Curious.

Evie Grimhilde - OTA
Evie was no stranger to really weird things happening. Especially since to her, the weird things were pretty much the day-to day. But the train was unsettling and she almost didn't get on, save for that pull that told her she needed to be on it right away.
So she followed the pull with a frown, head held high, blue hair tied back and out of her face with her usual crown braid across her forehead. She was going to find a way home, if it was the last thing she did.
After finding her room and dropping her stuff off, putting it away neatly and claiming one of the bottom bunks for herself, she digs through the bag and is surprised to find her best friends Spellbook. What was that doing here? Turning it over in her hands, she runs her fingers over it and then hugs it close, sighing and, for just a moment, feeling a tad homesick.
[Dining Car - Also OTA. ]
Later on, Evie can be found in the dining car. Mainly, the kitchen. She wants to see what she has to work with if she's going to be cooking with for the entirety of the train. It wasn't too bad. It looked a lot like the kitchen at school. A place for everything, and everything in it's place. Going over the food stores had her eyebrow raising some in uncertainty, but if that's what she had to work with, then so be it.
And then her eyes stumbled upon an allergies list, brown eyes narrowing some in confusion as she read it.
Rosemary. Mint. Citrus. What in Auradon was going on? The weirdest part was, two of the passengers shared the same allergies. Were they related, or was it just a wild coincidence?
Putting the list back, she studies it for a moment and then one shoulder shrugs.
"I can work with that." With that settled and a project in mind, Evie's charming grin appears on her face and her tone of voice is less Supremely Concerned and more...well, not settled, but ready. For what, she had no idea, but here Evie Grimhilde was, shoulder back, back straight, head held high, hands on her waist.
She was going to get through this, even without her best friends around.
Arrival
Here, though, she was no one special. Just another one of the surprisingly young passengers stuck on this train, sleeping within a few feet of other people who were simply chosen by a roll of the dice, one of whom had already beaten her to checking out their room.
"Room 1:E, correct?" she asked cautiously. Of course it was, but she wasn't sure how to actually introduce herself to someone in a situation like this.

Maglor blinks and shakes his head a little, eyes roaming the fog- no. Steam. He should still be able to see Elrond and Galadriel, even from the distance he'd dared reach to watch them Sail to safety. But they're gone. Everything is gone, but an echo, muted and painfully dim of Music half forgotten.
A quick check tells him the old, tattered robes and armored he's worn for so long is gone, as is the travel sac he'd carefully maintained. Both have been replaced with unfamiliar items, as the tall elf kneels to poke through. Relief settles his shoulders as he notes a familiar form, but he doesn't pull the harp out just yet. He needs answers first. It's enough that he slings the pack onto his back, ignoring the familiar ache in a hand that no longer likes being used.
And then it appears, leaving him staring warily at the train. "Let me guess, we're supposed to get into that beast."
Train:
Sometimes it would be nice to be wrong and bad things not happen. Or strange things, like getting into a machine like this, though he'd felt the uncomfortable urge to do just that. He might be used to his will not always being his own (thanks Dad), but this is different.
He decides to follow along with the instructions for the moment though, finding where he's supposed to rest, learning how to use the ticket, and continues to explore the train.

She had decided that she was being helpful today. Picking up new people was at least something not boring. She had feared they would have another whole week of being on a train with nothing to do before they got to a new world but it seemed there were new people who had been kidnapped.
"It do be being called a train, it do be flying and taking us places through a colour-sea."
She says it all like not knowing such things was stupid, even if she had never even heard of a train before two weeks ago.

Did you know that trying to stuff large chunks of dead snake monster down the rubbish chute in the kitchens doesn't work? Oh, you did? You knew that it would jam up the bin and get chunks of viscera everywhere? Huh?

Without opposable thumbs, she's fighting a losing battle trying to salvage the whole operation. And whoops, one of her hoodies just went into the chute with that bone. Well, she's pretty sure she'd never be able to put it on anyway, so no big deal...
After Departure, Luggage Car
What kind of crazy world is this? She even squeezed into one of the toilets to check herself in the mirror and yeah, she's definitely still an ugly spider monster. Actually, it was quite a shock to see herself! No wonder those knights tried to kill her. If she was a human, she'd try and kill her for sure, no hesitation.
But that was the problem. Apart from the train guardian and the loud elf, everyone had been pretty calm. Chill, even. No one screamed and ran, no one set her on fire or shot her with arrows or sicced their weird rip-off summons on her. Well, some people screamed, but that was fair. She would have screamed if she could when she looked in that mirror, honestly. Was she safe? Was the nightmare over? Could she relax?
No way, there had to be a catch.
So here she was, having greedily spent her starting points on a bag of assorted sweets, holding the first sweet out in front of her to inspect. Even if this was all a trap and they were just waiting to ambush her, she could at least enjoy this.

Now that he was fairly certain that he hadn't been caught by them after all, Conan' natural nosiness resurfaces. He still makes a point of holding his rucksack in a way that kept the name hidden, but he doesn't let that stop him from poking into every last corner of the train. He drags chairs around to see up on counters, inspects the floors and walls, and looks into every cubby he can reach.
Finding his Room: Room 1B
Eventually he comes across the room that matched his ticket. Pushing the door open, he looks around for an empty bed.
Departure
Conan, unfortunately, had not listened to the warning about taking a seat. The jolt catches him by surprise and he goes tumbling.
Room 1B
"So far, it's only that one that's empty." She points at the opposite bottom bunk. "But, I don't think Manabu would mind switching, if you want the top bunk." She pauses, then, thoughtfully. "You know, neither would I, if you really want a top one! I'm not sure we've ladders, but I'm sure my husband would give you a boost, if you needed it."
She's not trying to be mean at all! Just sometimes she needs a boost to the top bunk herself--and let's be real, he's shorter than she is. "I'm Sarai, by the way!"
