Garden

As she so often is, Nerdanel can be found sitting in the garden, singing softly as she works on her sculptures. The first is now finished, standing no more than two hands tall, Maedhros looks up out of stone, almost as if he might speak at any moment. She works now on the second, but will not mind company.


Library

The library is new, and therefore interesting, and Nerdanel can be found at intervals browsing through the shelves curiously, flipping through books. Alternatively, she can also be found sketching - a bas relief is taking shape under her pencil - one of the train, by the looks of things. Feel free to interrupt her for a chat!

"Yeah..." Quatre said a bit forlornly now that he was looking at it more clearly. "It doesn't look like there are many options."

A shame in his opinion, but maybe it would get better.

"Oh? What sort of things have you found?"

"Not yet." She smiles at him fondly. "I suppose I could use my points to get some more?"

She chuckles. "I think the most amusing so far has been what appears to be the scripts for one of the shows in the entertainment carriage? A child's show, but it is very sweet."

"I could probably do so as well... but I don't know what everyone would want. I'm sure stories and poetry might generally be appreciated."

Quatre blinked in surprise before smiling. "Really? The script for it? That's cute."

"Most people do enjoy a good tale! And I think it might be nice, to compare the tales of different peoples, perhaps."

She smiles. "Yes! Here, you see? I do not know if tis complete, but tis an amusing read."

"They do! And there are so many good ones. Though I wonder if someone might pick up a book that is fantasy in their world but is real life to someone else on the train."

He leaned over to look as she pointed it out. "I will have to take a look at that sometime. It sounds like it would be cute."

"Oh, now that's an interesting thought!" She nods. "I wonder how that would work? Would the tale be similar, but note quite the same, or exact?"

She offers it to him. "You can borrow it, if you like! I think they are free for the taking here, so long as they are returned."

"I wonder. It would amazing if we could prove something like that. But it seems like the train tries very hard not to have that happen."

Quatre reached out to take it with a smile. "Thank you. Of course, I'll bring it back. I wouldn't want to deprive anyone else of the chance to read it."

"I suppose not everyone would take it well." Nerdanel nods. "Some might be terribly offended!"

She smiles at him. "I don't know if folk want to read it rather than watch it, in honesty!"

"I can understand why, at least in some cases. If someone tried to use my world's history for a story backdrop and got it wrong, that would be very upsetting."

He chuckled. "No, probably not. I'm still interested in reading it."

"Exactly what I am thinking." She agrees. "Although I suppose you could argue that it might have been something to do with the process of finding out that story at all, when it is from an entirely different world!"

[gundamofthedesert]

"That is true. So complicated when you are dealing with multiple worlds." He chuckled. "It really is hard enough just dealing with one actually."

"Well, I never knew about multiple before now." She smiles wryly.

"And although I cannot regret the knowing - and the friends made here - I do agree the complications introduced are... intriguing."

[gundamofthedesert]

"I never did either. There were theories but nothing was actually proven. I guess this proves it though."

He nodded. "I have met some very nice people, but sometimes figuring out where things fit into this world and the different cultures make it more difficult."

"It rather does!"

She nods agreeing. "Fortunately, most folk seem to have been quite good natured, from what I have been able to see."

With some notable exceptions.

"I have noticed that as well. I figure if we all have to be here, we might as well try to get along. Hopefully, finding books about one's own world won't cause a problem."

[marriedanidiot]

"I would not have thought so! But perhaps for some, it might be insulting, rather than intriguing..."

She doesn't think anyone, even her prickly husband would think so, but then again, who truly knows...

"Perhaps. Though it could be used as a good opportunity to teach others about their world. If those here knew about the texts and were interested then they could tell others about how it actually was."

"True! I wonder, if I was to put in a request for ... say, a history of my world, what might the train provide? It might be interesting...."

[gundamofthedesert]

"That is interesting. I'd be curious to see what book they gave you if you requested that."

[marriedanidiot]

"Hm." She considers. "There are some official histories available. I suppose they might pick those?"

[gundamofthedesert]

"I'd hope so. Or maybe it has a sense of humor, like when you request clothes from the train."

She giggles at the thought.

"Oh dear. A parody can certainly be amusing, but if it were not known to be a parody it might do more harm than good?"

"Oh that's true. I'd hate for someone to get the wrong idea about my world, but if I didn't know to tell others the truth, so many wouldn't know." He thought for a moment. "It just seems like something the train would do."

"That would be my concern too." She agrees. "And it truly does - I have observed that one has to be wary of what exactly one requests."

[gundamofthedesert]

"That is very true. I ordered an outfit from the train just to see what I'd get. It was a very interesting set with a raincoat in light blue. Not bad, but I don't know if I'd ever wear every piece together. I wonder if the train could do something like that with a book."
